Ayden's Stay at the Hospital :o(

Sunday, August 31, 2008

Sometimes the Lord calms the storm and sometimes he calms the child while he lets the storm RAGE! That is my motto these days. ;o) We had but another trial to overcome. Ayden comae down with severe diarrhea, fever and vomiting. At first i didn't think much of it but it kept getting worse. Soon enough it got to be only GI lining and blood that he would poo. I took him in to a new Doctor (since we have different insurance now) and she pretty much disregarded it and sent us home. Since it still continued I took him back in the morning and saw a different Doctor. This one saw the severity and sent us to American Fork hospital. He stayed there for 5 days with basically no improvement and leaving everyone dumbfounded as to what was going on. On Monday morning they tested his blood once again and it has made a drastic drop from an original blood count of 421 to 30 and his kidneys were failing! They then transferred him to Primary Children's Hospital to be monitored by a specialist. The diagnosed him with HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome) http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/hemolytic-uremic-syndrome So 2 blood transfusions and another week later, he back at home and feeling like normal. He still has many check ups to make sure he is completely healed but we are definitely thankful for modern medicine!
